Rooster Tail and a Big Bike Ride

Once weekend a year water is let out of the dam into the river and makes a huge rooster tail.  We decided we would ride our bikes down to see it (driving could take hours with all of the traffic…and you have to pay for parking).  We’ve done this once before, but the boys were little and we pulled them in the trailer.  This year, as they are much more grown up, we thought they could ride themselves.  We drove part way to relieve some of the mileage and rode ourselves down.  It was a beautiful day and we had a perfect ride down the Greenbelt.

We got sprayed by the water once we made it down, but it was such an amazing site and felt great after riding for ten miles on the blacktop.

The kids got in about 20 miles ( the furthest they’ve been yet ) and they were troopers.

Hooray for Kite Day

My sister-in-law Chelsea, master party thrower, plans a kite day every year.  We have a yummy lunch and then head to the park and fly kites with the kids.  It is always a fun day and we usually have great weather.  This year the wind was a little slow, but the sun was shining and the kids were willing to run with the kites when necessary…

Easter 2012

For Easter we usually go to Melba and support the high school baseball team.  We’ve been taking the kids since we moved back from California.  This year, however, Nikolai was older than their oldest age group (don’t 10 year olds still like to hunt Easter eggs?!?!)

So this year we headed to Kuna high school and hunted eggs there.  It was incredibly windy, but the boys had fun racing out into the huge field and collecting eggs in their baskets.  Grandma and Grandpa Morgan met us there to observe the festivities.

After we finished hunting eggs, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Morgan’s to find Easter treats prepared by Grandma Morgan.

Then on Sunday, the Easter Bunny came to our house and left a little candy, some flowering bulbs, and some healthy treats…

In the afternoon we took lunch to the train depot.  The boys ate, climbed rocks, and relaxed in the sunshine.  Amadeus from Edelrid (a German rope climbing company Jay works with at Verde) was in town, so we took him to see downtown and took his picture in front of the train depot.
